About Us
The
Penobscot Nation Boys and Girls Club was founded in 2000; it is
recognized as the first Native American Club to be established in
the Northeast region of the United States. We are currently
staffed by 8 qualified
professionals who serve over 200 Club members ages 5-18.
Our staff is dedicated to offering a wide variety of quality
activities that fulfill the Boys & Girls Club of America core programs:
Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career
Development, the Arts and Sports/Fitness & Recreation.
Our Club membership is made up of both,
Native American and Non-Native American youth, and geographically
expands to the Greater Bangor Area. Affiliation with the
Penobscot Indian Tribe is not required to become a Club member.
PNBGC operations are funded through extensive
grant writing/application and the generosity of
our sponsors. Our programming and
services are 100% free of charge to all Club members.
Our Mission
It is our mission to inspire and enable
all young people and their families, especially those who needs us
most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and
caring citizens.
