 FY 2021 Rules Governing the Plan

In addition to Indian Island, the service area includes certain Penobscot households in the following municipalities:  Alton, Argyle, Bradley, Costigan, Milford, Old Town, and Orono. Please contact the Department of Social Services at (207) 817-3165, for more information. Due to problems that we have encountered, we will NOT be able to “front” any deliveries for you, nor will we be able to make promissory calls to your vendor on your behalf. While filling out your LIHEAP application, please, be prepared to tell your intake worker how you will want your benefits split.                                       Benefits will not change after you have been certified.

Application Schedule

Applications will be only by phone

The following is the application schedule for this program year.  Unless otherwise indicated, applications will be taken by phone only at (207) 817-7491.  Starting October 5, 2020 thru October 29, 2020, you will have to call a half hour before the scheduled time below to receive an appointment time with an intake worker.  The intake worker will call back at the scheduled time to complete the FY21 LiHeap application with you. The remainder of the LiHeap program year will be by appointment only and by calling the above number and scheduling an appointment.

For FY 2021:

  1. Applications shall be taken from elderly households as follows:

October 5, 2020:                10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

October 6, 2020:                9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

October 7, 2020:                1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

October 8, 2020:                2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • Applications shall be taken from households with special needs members and households with children age two (2) or younger as follows:

October 12, 2020:              8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

October 13, 2020:              8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

October 14, 2020:              1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

October 15, 2020:              3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Applications shall be taken from all segments of the service population as follows:

October 19, 2020:              8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

October 20, 2020:              4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

October 21, 2020:              1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

October 22, 2020:              8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

October 26, 2020:              1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

October 27, 2020:              3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

October 28, 2020:              4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

October 29, 2020:              8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Thereafter, applications will be taken by appointment only until Thursday, March 18, 2021. Under no circumstances will any appointments will be available after Thursday of March 18, 2021.

You will need 1. Income Verification 2. Most current utility bill 3. Social Security numbers for all household members 4. Date(s) of Birth 5. Employment – back one full year from date of application, addresses, phone number(s), dates & pay stubs.
