How can I get an application for housing?

You may stop by the Housing Department located at 12 Wabanaki Way on Indian Island. You may also contact us at 817-7370 to have one mailed to you. Also you may download it HERE.

If you were a former tenant and left voluntarily is there a waiting period to reapply for housing?

Yes, there is a three year waiting period to reapply for housing.

If you were a former tenant and evicted can you reapply for housing?

Yes, after a five year waiting period you may reapply.

If you left owing money, can you reapply for housing?

Any money owed to housing must be paid in full before you can reapply for housing. Thus, even to get on the waiting list you need to pay past overdue amounts.

What happens after you receive my application?

To determine eligibility we will verify income, landlord references, and run a criminal background check. If your application is approved your name will be placed on our waiting list and you will recieve a letter. If your application is denied, you will receive a letter explaining the reason for the denial and information regarding your right to appeal our decision.

How long does it take to get housing?

Because we have limited unit and most people tend to stay a while your wait time could be at least two or more years.

Is there anything that I need to do while I am waiting for housing?

Please make sure to update the Housing Department if you have a change in your address or phone number. The Housing Department annually updates the wait list. You will recieve a letter and you must return this information to housing by the date stated on the letter indicating if you are still interested in remaining on the wait list. Once again please be sure to keep the Housing Department aware of any changes pertaining to your address and phone number.
