Covid-19 Booster
Last week, the CDC authorized an additional COVID booster for specific patients. Although a patient may have received any COVID vaccine for their primary series, second booster doses MUST be an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna).
Starting Thursday, April 7, patients may schedule for a second booster dose if they meet BOTH of the following criteria:
- Previous booster was > 4 months ago
- 50+ years of age – OR – moderately/severely immunocompromised
Moderately/severely immunocompromised includes the following medical conditions (per the CDC):
- Active Cancer treatment
- Organ Transplant
- Stem Cell Transplant
- Primary Immunodeficiency
- HIV Infection
- High-dose corticosteroid use
