Substitute Teacher Positions Available

  • Thursday, August 11th , noon to 4pm or
  • Friday August 19th , 9am to 2 pm.

Applications will be available. Applicants must undergo background check (CHRC), fingerprinting and drug screen. 

All costs will be be covered for applicants.

Qualifications to become a Substitute Teacher:

Current CHRC authorization through State of Maine Department of Education; mandatory substance abuse test.

Description:

Indian Island School is looking for dynamic, passionate individuals who love children.

Candidates must have the ability to work positively with administration, staff, and students; possess strong oral and written communication skills; have strong organizational and interpersonal skills; and is dedicated to meeting the academic and social needs of each child. Substitute/Guest teachers are employed on an on-call, day-to-day, as needed basis. Substitute teachers will be assigned to serve in the absence of a teacher or to teach a class that does not currently have a regular teacher (vacancy). Employee absences are unpredictable and fluctuate greatly; therefore, it is impossible to predict how many days a substitute will work in any school week or year. Substitute employees are encouraged to make themselves available daily and be

flexible to various grades and subjects.

  • Substitute daily rate $90.00 – $100.00
