COOLING STATION OPENING

When: Tuesday June 24, 2025

Time: 8:00 am- 8:00 pm

Location: Sockalexis Arena

The Penobscot Nation will be opening a cooling station because of the dangerously high temperatures and increased heat index for the area.

Those who need a place to cool off and hydrate can go to the Sockalexis Arena, which will be the designated Cooling Station.

EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT TUESDAY…

* WHAT…Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 107

  expected.

* WHERE… The greater Bangor area.

* WHEN…Until 8 PM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…Heat related illnesses increase significantly during

  extreme heat and high humidity events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Temperatures will remain warm Monday night,

  which can further contribute to heat stress.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of

the sun and if possible, check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car

interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed.
