Attention hunters:

The Penobscot Indian Nation Department of Natural Resources has partnered with the University of Maine, Orono and Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife on a research study to evaluate the prevalence, distribution, and effects of parasite infections in moose. This study will provide essential information to assess the health and long-term viability of Maine’s moose population.

This survey form is intended to gauge your interest in participating in the collection of biological samples from your harvested moose this season for research and monitoring purposes.

If you are willing to participate in this study, please fill out this form.  There will be instructional webinars on the sample collection process before the moose hunt begins.  We are hoping to collect ~20 samples this season so your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you-

Ben Simpson – PIN Wildlife Biologist
