Join the Carbon Inventory Advisory Committee for the Tribal Forest Carbon Inventory Project.
We’re inviting staff and community members to help guide an exciting new initiative:

• Identifying lands to be excluded from the carbon inventory
• Familiarize folks with voluntary carbon markets
• Discuss goals for the future of the Penobscot Nation
• 
  Why It Matters:
  This project will offer an opportunity for citizen input and stewardship—supporting climate action, conservation, and sustainable land use for future generations.
• 
  We’re Looking for People Who:
• Care about our forests and environment
• Want to contribute to local decision-making
• Bring knowledge, curiosity, or lived experience
• Can attend a few meetings over the coming months and potentially into the next couple years
• 
  What You’ll Do:
• Help shape land selection criteria and identify parcels for council
• Developing an outreach plan to engage the wider community in project design
• Identifying risks posed by a project and brainstorming mitigation practices
• Reviewing the carbon project’s forest management practices to ensure they properly incorporate TEK and cultural values
•

  Meetings will be held locally for a couple of days and with a few remote monthly meetings to follow.
