Indian Island residential spring cleanup will commence on April 27, thru May 8, 2026. Please do not place everything in one big pile. Place wood, metal and bulky waste in separate piles.  Materials must be placed curbside on or before 7:30 a.m. on the weeks of April 20th and May 4^th.  We will only be picking up items for two (2) weeks so please have all items curbside and we would like all items to be out there by no later than 12 pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. We will not pick up additional items if they are not out there by 12 pm on Wednesday, May 6, 20206.  

The crew will pick up the following:

1. All grass clippings, weeds, garden plants and leaves should be placed in a 30-gal. compostable paper bag, because the work crew will have to break open each bag at the dumpsite.

• Wood and small branches will be picked up if tied in bundles and no heavier than 40 pounds. All wood must be placed in a separate pile.

• Metal containers larger than five gallons must be clean and tops removed.

• Bulky furniture such as chairs, sofas, tables, etc.

• Up to two (2) car tires without rims at no charge.  No truck or heavy equipment tires will be picked up.

• Small metal items.  All metal items must be placed in a separate pile.

THE FOLLOWING METAL ITEMS MAY NEED TO BE PAID FOR:

1. All white goods include metal microwaves ovens, washers, dryers, etc.  Also, all refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed.
2. Metal bathtubs
3. Metal desks
4. Metal cabinets
5. Metal water tanks
6. Stoves and furnaces
7. Metal items that are 2 ft. x 4 ft. and larger

THE CREW WILL NOT PICK UP THE FOLLOWING:

1. Dangerous, hazardous, or environmentally unsafe materials such as cleaning fluids, crankcase oil, fuel oil, and paint.
2. Tree stumps or brush that is not bundled or is bundled and more than 40 -lbs.
3. Motor vehicles and large parts thereof
4. Household electronics such as TV’s, computers, gaming systems etc.
5. Demolished buildings
6. Wire or cables unless cut into small pieces and placed in a metal container
7. Large trees
8. Tires still on rims
9. Household waste, clothes, paper goods, books: these items can go in curbside pick up
