Fall Vaccination Schedules

We will be offering NovaVax vaccine clinics on 8/30, 9/15, and 9/20. Second doses of Novavax will need to be administered 3 weeks after the first dose. We have a very limited supply of these vaccines, and we are not likely to receive another distribution, so we must be very careful in managing our inventory.

We will be contacting a panel of very high-risk patients to schedule for Evusheld administration during the month of September. Evusheld is a monoclonal antibody treatment given before a person contracts COVID. Evusheld treatment provides 6 months of increased antibody coverage, which will help protect our highest-risk patients during the worst of the winter season. These are longer appointments due to the required monitoring period. We will be schedule 3 patients every Tuesday for the month of September. We have 12 courses available for use.

COVID bi-valent boosters for both Pfizer and Moderna have been pre-ordered for Fall. These boosters will be for all 18+ patients. The new boosters include the original formulation as well as the B.A.5 and B.A.4 subvariants of Omicron. They are scheduled for FDA review next week, and we are anticipating a launch after the Labor Day holiday, based on the time needed for ACIP and CDC review. Staff are strongly encouraged to take these boosters when they become available.

We have also set the flu shot schedules for the Fall. Flu shots can be administered at the same time as COVID boosters, but for patients who have recently been boosted or declined the vaccine, these clinics are available for flu shots only.

I know this is a lot of information. Please let me know if you need clarification or have any questions?

Thanks!

Candy
